Fried squid

Kosta and Nikos bring you a new recipe – fried squid! Watch the video and find out the easiest way to clean fresh squid.

 

Ingredients:

 

  • Fresh squid
  • Flour (for breading)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Olive oil ILIADA
  • Lemon (for serving)

Preparation:

 

  • Cleaning squid: Squid are easiest to clean when they are fresh. Then the black part of the skin comes off easily. After removing the skin, remove the central bone that looks like plastic and then the innards. Nikos advises to clean the squid under running water because it is easier to peel and remove the entrails. The head comes off but don’t throw it away – it’s one of the best parts. Take out the bone, and that’s it (not required, but you can if you want).
  • Preparation for frying: Cut the prepared squid into rings or leave them whole, then roll them in flour salted to your taste.
  • Frying: Heat the olive oil in a pan and fry the squid for about five minutes to 10 maximum – if you fry too much, they will become hard. Fry until they get a nice golden color.
  • Serving: Serve warm with fresh lemon and tzatziki salad.
