Juicy fritters made of mixed minced meat, enriched with cheese and spices, are ideal with baked potatoes, a salad or fresh seasonal vegetables. Crispy on the outside and soft and full of flavor on the inside.
Ingredients:
- 500 g of minced mixed meat
- 1 small onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 egg
- 100 g of cheese
- 1 tablespoon of mustard
- 1 level teaspoon of baking soda
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 level teaspoon of sweet paprika
- Oil
Preparation:
- Mixture: Mix minced meat, chopped onion and garlic, cheese, baking soda, salt, pepper and sweet paprika. Add a spoonful of oil. Knead everything well until the mixture becomes compact. Cover the bowl and leave the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (ideally 1-2 hours). This helps the flavors to bond and the dumplings to hold their shape while baking.
- Forming: With wet hands, form flat pegs. If you like the cheese to be in the middle as a filling, you can also make a variant in which you put a cube of cheese in the center of each bite, and close the meat around it.
- Baking: Heat a pan with a little oil or prepare a grill. Grill the patties over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes on each side, until they have a nice golden brown color and the insides are cooked and juicy.
Tips:
- For additional aroma, you can add finely chopped parsley, hot pepper or a little smoked paprika to the mixture.
- Cheese can be mild or smoked, depending on the taste you want to achieve.
- If you are grilling, it is a good idea to coat the pegs with a thin layer of oil before grilling so that they do not stick. In addition, they are especially tasty when prepared on the grill – the smoke and embers further emphasize the juiciness of the meat, so the dumplings get a fuller and richer taste.
