Do a little, change a lot – donate blood!
During one year, our country needs 240,000 units of blood, and only 3 out of 100 inhabitants of Serbia regularly donate blood, although even 64% of the population can become a donor. It is necessary to collect 1,500 units of blood every week in order for the health system to function smoothly. Your one unit of blood can save up to three lives! That’s why we invite you to join us on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in front of Super Vero in New Belgrade – Bulevar Milutin Milankovića 86a. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the transfusion car of the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Serbia will be parked in front of Super Vero, ready to receive all of you who want to become part of this humanitarian mission.
Why is blood donation important for donors?
In addition to the fact that one unit of blood can save as many as three lives, donating blood can also have health benefits for donors. Regular blood donation can improve circulation and reduce the risk of heart disease in men who donate blood 2-3 times a year, as well as in menopausal women. The majority of voluntary donors are men (73.5%), while women make up 26.5% of the total number.
Who can donate blood?
Any healthy person aged 18 to 65 who meets the following criteria can be a blood donor: weight over 50 kg, body temperature below 37°C, pulse between 50-100/min, normal blood pressure, normal lymph glands, liver and spleen, hemoglobin above 135 g/L for men and 125 g/L for women.
