Kosta and Nikos prepare fresh sea bream on the grill! You can buy sea bream in Super Vero fish counters, where it arrives directly from Thessaloniki. This fantastic bream (tsipoura in Greek, sea bream in English) is grilled over charcoal. See how easily you can prepare it too by clicking the link.
Ingredients:
- Fresh sea bream (available in grams 400/600, 600/800, 1000+, cleaned in our fish shops)
- Olive oil (to taste)
- 2-3 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Lemon (for serving, optional)
Preparation:
1. Fish: Prepare the sea bream, coat with olive oil inside and out. Add chopped garlic and onion to the belly of the fish, then season with salt and pepper. Brush with a little more olive oil on top as well.

2. Grill: Heat the grill (charcoal), but keep the fish at a distance from the flame – it shouldn’t be too close, but the fire should be strong enough for the grilling to last long enough.

3. Grilling: Place the fish on the grill and turn it every 5 minutes. Bake for about 30 minutes – theoretically it’s done, but check depending on the size: smaller fish will be done faster, and bigger ones a little slower.

4. Serving: Remove from the grill when the meat is tender and easily separated from the bones. Serve warm with lemon wedges for freshness.

Tips:
- Buy fresh sea bream from Super Vera – it arrives directly from Thessaloniki for the maximum taste of the sea!
- For perfect grilling, keep the heat high but at a distance so that the fish cooks evenly without burning.
