French toast with strawberries

In Serbia, there are people who spread cream or jam on fried toast, while in France, fried toast itself is made to be a sweet treat. For lovers of such combinations, French toast is an ideal choice, and the preparation of this delicious dish takes only 15 minutes.

Below, find the ingredients and preparation method.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of brioche bread – page 17 in the catalog (you can use any stale bread)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 100 g butter
  • Fresh strawberries, chopped
  • Powdered sugar (for sprinkling)
  • Maple/agave syrup or honey

Preparation:
Mix eggs, milk, vanilla extract, vanilla sugar, sugar, and a pinch of salt until well combined. Heat a pan over medium heat, add a tablespoon of butter, and let it melt (you’ll need a tablespoon of butter for each slice). Dip a slice of brioche into the prepared mixture, making sure it’s well soaked on all sides. Place the soaked slice of bread on the heated pan and cook until golden brown on both sides. Repeat the process with the remaining slices of bread. Once the French toasts are done, stack them on top of each other. Garnish with chopped strawberries. Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with syrup or honey for extra sweetness.
