Apple pie is a true classic dessert – simple to prepare, fragrant, and full of warm flavors. For added taste, you can include a bit of grated lemon or orange zest in the filling.
Ingredients:
- 500g phyllo dough
- 1 kg apples, peeled and grated
- 100g sugar (or to taste)
- 100g ground walnuts
- 1 lemon, juice and zest
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 100ml oil or melted butter (for brushing the phyllo sheets)
- 50g raisins (optional)
- A pinch of salt
Preparation:
Place grated apples in a large bowl, add sugar, vanilla sugar, and cinnamon, and mix well. Add raisins if desired. Lay out one phyllo sheet on a work surface and brush lightly with oil or melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again. Spread a portion of the apple filling evenly along the edge of the sheets and sprinkle with ground walnuts. Roll the sheets into a log and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat the process until you have used all the phyllo sheets and filling. Brush each roll lightly with oil on top.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 30-40 minutes until golden. Enjoy!
